The safe use of the CredibleMeds® lists of QT-prolonging medications requires being aware of any changes that are mede to the lists. Therefore, we wish to inform you of the following changes.
We have evaluated the available evidence for the following four drugs and found substantial evidence that they prolong the QT interval when used as directed. However, at this time, we did not find convincing evidence of TdP associated with any of these drugs. Therefore, we have added these drugs to the list of drugs with Possible Risk of TdP and to the list of Drugs to Avoid for patients with congenital long QT syndrome.
Leuprolide (Lupron® and other brands) and degarelix (Firmagon®) are drugs for prostate cancer that act to cause androgen deprivation which is believed to be responsible for QT prolongation
Panobinostat (Farydak®) is used in combination with two other drugs to treat multiple myeloma.
Tropisetron (Navoban® and Setrovel®) is a serotonin 5-HT3 receptor antagonist marketed in several non-US countries for the treatment of nausea and vomiting.
