The free mobile application makes the online QTdrugs database instantly available for healthcare providers and patients and is intended to guide the safe use of medications, helping users be aware of the risk of drug-induced arrhythmias and cardiac arrest.

The new version of the app also includes more information that is intended to help healthcare providers and patients use these medications safely. As shown in the screenshot below, when a specific drug is chosen for display, the information now includes two new notifications.

The FDA has found that certain heart and blood pressure medicines manufactured in China are contaminated with small amounts of a chemical called NDMA or N-nitrosodimethylamine, a member of a group of chemicals called nitrosamines. They have been found to cause cancer when given in large doses in rats and are suspected to possibly cause cancer in humans exposed to even small amounts for prolonged periods of time.
